First 'Gay Games' takes place in South Asia

Being gay is still illegal in some south Asian countries, but that has not stopped hundreds of athletes taking part in the region's first gay, bisexual and transgender games.

The games are being held in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal with the support of the UN and foreign embassies, in an effort to end discrimination.

Organisers said more than 300 gay, bisexual and transgender athletes from 30 countries were registered to compete in the three-day event.
