China blocks New York Times report on prime minister

China has condemned as a "smear" a New York Times report saying Premier Wen Jiabao's relatives have accumulated billions of dollars since his time in office.

The article said Mr Wen's family members "have controlled assets worth at least $2.7bn (£1.7bn)".

Meanwhile, disgraced politician Bo Xilai has been expelled from parliament.

He is facing criminal charges of corruption, abuse of power and perversion of justice in connection with his wife's murder of a British businessman.

Martin Patience reports from Beijing.
