'I left engineering to be food hawker'

Singapore's food courts, known locally as hawker centres, are popular with locals and tourists alike.

Singaporeans are proud of their street food heritage, but with fewer young people joining the trade, there are worries that the tradition is on the wane.

Abdus Salam started as an engineer, but left his job when he realised that his father needed help in his food stall.

The 27-year-old told BBC News why he spends his days making Indian rojak, a popular dish with seafood, vegetables, and dough fritters.
