Burma's Thein Sein meets Barack Obama at White House

President Obama has welcomed Burma's president, Thein Sein, to the White House.

It is the first visit to Washington by a Burmese leader for almost 50 years.

Mr Obama praised Burma's recent political and economic reforms - but said that violence directed at Burma's Muslim communities needed to stop.

Relations with the West have been growing steadily warmer, since the regime ended military rule and brought in a number of reforms two years ago.

Alpa Patel reports.
