Pakistan bus fire kills at least 16 children

At least 16 children, some as young as five, have died on their way to school, after a gas cylinder exploded on the bus they were travelling on.

The bus was a few kilometres from the children's school in Gujrat, about 200km (120 miles) south-east of Islamabad when it caught fire, before the gas cylinder exploded.

Police say they believe the fire was caused by a spark when the driver of the duel-fuel vehicle switched from gas to petrol.

The BBC's Richard Galpin says the blast would have been "not much different from a bomb".
