Malaysia's PM has vowed to abolish the sedition act

The Malaysian prime minister, Najib Razak, has vowed to abolish the sedition act following a hotly contested election in May.

However, he has defended the continued use of sedition charges against his political opponents saying that the law was used only against those who undermined stability in the country.

"We will amend the act but we want to keep Malaysia peaceful and harmonious"

The BBC's Jon Sopel spoke to Prime Minister Najib Razak on BBC World News.
