Protests in Thailand over proposed political amnesty bill

Thousands of anti-government protestors have taken to the streets of Bangkok as Thailand's parliament begins discussing a hugely controversial political amnesty bill.

The bill would grant amnesty to those involved in politically-related violence since 2006, but critics warn it could allow ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra to return from exile without having to serve a jail sentence for corruption.
