Forced marriage: 'Effects very, very long lasting'
The UK government's Forced Marriage Unit says it deals with almost 1500 cases each year of children who go missing over the summer holidays, although they believe there are many more cases which go unreported.
Khalida Salimi is the founder of Sach, a refuge in Pakistan set up to help and repatriate foreign nationals forced into marriage.
She told the BBC that the girls are often traumatised by their experiences. "They detain them, they isolate them, they deprive them of food, physically beat them," she said.
