Tamils fear the military threaten to 'crowd them out'

Since the victory over Tamil separatists, the Sri Lankan military has achieved heroic status among those who saw the conflict as a war against terrorists.

Four years after the end of the conflict, critics say the armed forces have too much power over civilian affairs.

On Friday, more than 200 demonstrators surrounded David Cameron's motorcade in the north of the country at the start of the controversial Commonwealth summit to protest against the government's alleged human rights abuses during the civil war.
