India-US diplomat row escalates
India's government has said it is "shocked and appalled" at the manner in which its deputy consul general in New York, Devyani Khobragade, was "humiliated" in the US.
Ms Khobragade, 39, was charged with visa fraud and making false statements over allegedly underpaying an Indian housekeeper.
The diplomat was handcuffed upon arrest last week and strip-searched, Indian reports say.
Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid said the government had taken measures to address the arrest, calling Ms Khobragade's seizure "completely unacceptable".
