Ancient Tibetan town destroyed by fire

An ancient town in Tibet has been destroyed by a fire that raged for 10 hours on Saturday.

Nearly 300 houses were destroyed in the blaze in the tourist town of Dukezong.

Chinese officials say fire prevention equipment had been closed down to prevent pipes from bursting in below-freezing temperatures.
