Jailed US man Kenneth Bae in N Korea 'news conference'

An American citizen held for more than a year in North Korea has spoken to foreign media in the country, and appealed to the US government to take action on his behalf.

Kenneth Bae was sentenced last May to 15 years hard labour in North Korea for crimes against the state.

In his first news conference since his arrest in November 2012, Mr Bae called for "close cooperation" between the US government and Pyongyang to secure his release.

The BBC's Seoul correspondent Lucy Williamson reports.
