Pakistan Taliban peace talks to open

Preliminary peace talks between the Pakistani government and the Taliban are due to get under way in Islamabad.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif wants to end the decade-long insurgency by peaceful means.

He has been under mounting pressure to bring the violence under control.

While the talks are going on many hope there will be respite from attacks.
