Java prisoners learn traditional cloth-making skills

Women inmates in a prison in western Java are being given the chance to earn an income and learn how to support themselves on release.

They are taking discarded pieces of batik - a uniquely Indonesian cloth which is treated with wax and dye to create intricate, colourful designs - and sewing them together again to create soft furnishings and accessories.

They then receive a share of the profits.

BBC Indonesia's Endang Nurdin reports.
