The political dynasties behind the Indian election

For most of its independence, India's politics has been dominated by the powerful Nehru-Gandhi dynasty, a family that has given the country three prime ministers.

Its fourth generation member, Rahul Gandhi, is vice-president of the governing Congress party.

But even as the Gandhis appear to be on the decline, other political dynasties have emerged.
