Missing plane MH370: Tony Abbott 'confident' pings are 'black box'

Australia's prime minister says he is "confident" that acoustic signals detected by search ships are from the "black box" of missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

Speaking in China, Tony Abbott said teams had "very much narrowed" the search area.

An Australian vessel has on four occasions picked up signals consistent with flight recorders but a fifth signal, picked up by a plane on Thursday, is now thought unlikely to be linked to flight MH370.

Phil Mercer reports.
