South Korean Coastguard says rescue hampered by poor weather

The South Korean coastguard has said bad weather, murky water and strong currents are hampering the search for survivors after a ferry sunk off the coast.

At a news conference, the authorities confirmed that 287 people are still unaccounted for and 179 people have been rescued.

Nine people are confirmed to have died, with dozens more injured.

Speaking at a news conference Kim Soo-hyun said : "The weather conditions are not favourable at the moment".
