Thai PM Yingluck Shinawatra appears in court over abuse of power

Thailand is on the verge of a major political upheaval as the Constitutional Court considers whether to dismiss the country's caretaker Prime Minister, Yingluck Shinawatra, for abuse of power.

The court has been hearing a case brought by a group of senators who say her party benefited from the replacement of the head of national security.

The hearing is seen as part of a wider political battle between Ms Yingluck and her opponents, who want to force her from office.
