Afghan girl with highest marks in university entrance exam

A young Afghan girl has gained the highest mark in the country's national university entrance exam, beating 225,000 other applicants.

It is a notable achievement in a conservative society like Afghanistan's, where many families will not allow their daughters to pursue further education after they finish school.

Shohreh Ghaderi told BBC Persian's Harun Najafizada that living in relatively peaceful Balkh Province - and the support of her parents and siblings - enabled her to secure a place to study medicine at Kabul University.
