China and Vietnam's South China Sea clash dominates ASEAN summit

South east Asian governments have called on China and Vietnam to end their confrontation in the South China Sea and to resolve their dispute peacefully.

Last week, China sent an oil rig into an area of sea also claimed by Vietnam, prompting several days of clashes between coastguard vessels.

The issue has dominated the summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), being held in Myanmar for the first time.
