Pope Francis arrives in South Korea for first Asia trip

Pope Francis has arrived in South Korea for a five-day visit. It is his first trip to Asia since he became the pontiff in March 2013.

The Catholic Church asked the North Korean government whether a delegation could cross the border to take part but the invitation was rejected.

The BBC's Rupert Wingfield-Hayes, in Seoul, says the Catholic Church in South Korea has grown enormously since the last visit by a pope in 1989 and it is a significant visit.
