Hong Kong protests: Umbrella Tree sculpture unveiled

A pro-democracy demonstrator in Hong Kong has created a sculpture made of metal barricades and umbrellas - the unofficial symbol of the protesters.

Ryan Lau, a Creative Media student at the City University of Hong Kong, built the sculpture near Hong Kong's Government House in Admiralty.

Lau, 23, said the combination of the two elements suggested that the protesters and police "do not stand against each other", but are aligned as Hong Kong citizens.

Protests are continuing over China's decision to vet candidates for the territory's 2017 election.
