A vivid pink diamond has broken a new record at auction after it sold for $17.8m (£11.07m) at Sotheby's in Hong Kong.

Chin Yeow Quek, Sotheby's deputy chairman, Asia, said the auction for the 8.41-carat diamond "was quite a big thrill".
