Australian journalist on trial for defamation in Thailand

Alan Morison, an Australian journalist who is on trial for criminal defamation alongside a Thai colleague, says he is "seriously concerned".

Mr Morison is the editor of the Phuket-based news website Phuketwan, he said they will fight the charge because a free press is an "essential part of democracy everywhere".

Mr Morison and his colleague, Chutima Sidasathien, face seven years in prison.
