Sri Lanka accuses Mahinda Rajapaksa of 'thirst for power'

The Sri Lankan government has fiercely attacked the former president, Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera accused Mr Rajapaksa of a "shameless thirst for power".

The former president is standing in parliamentary elections next month.

The BBC's Azzam Ameen asked Mr Samaraweera if Mr Rajapaksa was benefiting from a failure of the "rainbow coalition" that replaced him in January 2015.
