Bangkok blast: 'Acrid smell' in aftermath of explosion
One of the best-known shrines in the Thai capital Bangkok has been hit by a massive bomb blast.
The shrine, next to a five-star hotel, is generally packed with people seeking good fortune, and is also popular with tourists.
Eyewitness Barry Newhouse, editor-in chief of the Voice of America, arrived at the scene shortly after the blast.
He told the BBC: "There were three motorcycles... there was a real acrid smell in the air".
