Sri Lanka destroys poached 'blood' ivory

Sri Lanka has become the first South Asian country to destroy poached ivory.

A total of 359 tusks, thought to be worth $2.7m, were crushed and then fed into a furnace.

Officials say the move was to demonstrate that the country will not tolerate the trade and killing of elephants.

The BBC's Charles Haviland reports.
