Why China is watching Taiwan leader's foreign tour

This weekend Taiwan's president is heading abroad. Tsai Ing-wen will visit some of the few remaining countries that still recognise her government.

But Beijing, which views Taiwan as a breakaway province, will be paying particular attention to her stopovers in the United States.

That's because last year Donald Trump spoke on the phone to the Taiwanese leader - becoming the first president or president-elect to do so for decades.
