Uighur photographer aims to bridge China communities' gap

Uighur photographer Kurbanjan Samat tells the BBC about his mission to bridge the gap between the Chinese and the Uighurs.

In recent months, there has been an upsurge in violence linked to China's western region of Xinjiang.

The Chinese authorities have blamed the attacks on separatists from the region's Muslim Uighur ethnic minority.

Kurbanjan says his aim is to "replace prejudice with positive energy" in Xinjiang, his home region.
