China to crack down on Uighurs escaping to Turkey

The Chinese government has pledged to crack down on Uighurs who, it says, are escaping and signing up with Islamic State.

It blames the ethnic minority for a series of attacks on Chinese soil and fears they will be radicalised in Syria and Iraq.

Many Uighurs emigrate to Turkey, with or without the consent of Chinese authorities, but those in Turkey say they know of none joining the militant group.
