Painful legacy of China's one-child policy

China has decided to end its decades-long one-child policy, Xinhua news agency has reported.

All couples will now be allowed to have two children, the state-run news agency said, citing a statement from the Communist Party.

The town of Rudong was once held up as a model of enforcement for the one child policy, but it is now creaking under the weight of an ageing population, as John Sudworth reports.
