Swapan Dasgupta on India's sectarian and 'hate' crimes

The Indian journalist and writer Swapan Dasgupta, who is now a member of the country's upper parliamentary chamber acknowledges to Hardtalk's Stephen Sackur that hate crimes are taking place in India.

There has been a rise in communal and sectarian violence in India. Earlier this year, a Muslim man was reportedly killed by a mob who accused him of transporting beef in his car.
