Radiation hotspot in Tokyo 'not linked to Fukushima'

Elevated levels of radiation found in a residential area of Tokyo are almost certainly not connected to the striken Fukushima nuclear plant, officials have said.

A reading of 3.35 microsieverts per hour had been detected in Setagaya ward, fuelling fears about the possible effects of drifting radiation.

But Japan's science minister said the radiation had been traced to material stored in the basement of a house.
