Emma Thompson recommends visits to changing Burma
The actress Emma Thompson has recommended people to visit Burma as social changes take hold.
For many years, Burma's military rulers kept their country's borders firmly shut - and denied basic human rights to its population. This has long made tourism difficult.
Though change has been slow, some western charities are now being allowed to work in Burma, including the anti-poverty group ActionAid.
Emma Thompson is an ambassador for ActionAid and she has recently returned from the country. She was joined on her trip by Joanna Kerr from the charity.
