Thailand floods: 'Evacuation holiday' declared

Authorities in Thailand have declared a five-day holiday in more than 20 provinces severely affected by flooding, including the capital, to give residents time to move.

Thousands of people are rushing to leave Bangkok, which is braced for potentially severe flooding over the weekend. Some northern parts of the city are already 90% submerged by rising water.

The BBC's Rachel Harvey said supplies such as bottled water for those remaining in the city were running low.
