Major storms batter Australia's east coast
Torrential rain and high winds have caused havoc along Australia's east coast, leaving thousands of homes without power and causing extensive flooding.
In Sydney, rivers overflowed, and trees came down on the roofs of houses.
"Within our Sydney southern region, we've attended to over five rescues throughout the night," said Canterbury SES senior deputy controller Chris Nelsen.
"And throughout the state we've attended to over 50."
