Police disperse large crowds after Sydney church stabbing

Police officers were called to help control large crowds of people outside a church after a bishop and several other people were stabbed during a sermon.

Police said "a large police response is under way and the public is urged to avoid the area" after hundreds of people gathered to protest against the attack.

They added that a 15-year-old boy has been arrested and taken to an undisclosed location, and none of the injuries received in the stabbing were life-threatening.

The attack happened just two days after six people were killed during a stabbing rampage at a popular Sydney shopping centre, though there is no suggestion the attacks are linked.
