Wildfires still hold a firm grasp on Russia

Peat and forest fires are still raging in Russia, specifically in the Sverdlovsk and Chuvashia regions. Thousands of people have lost their homes and there have been 52 deaths so far from fires which have ravaged over 16,000 hectares of land.

Sverdlovsk region is one of the most urbanised regions of Russia, with many towns and villages.
