Austerity protests in Romania have claimed a government minister. Vasile Blaga has resigned after police protests on Friday against wage cuts went ahead, despite being ruled illegal by his interior department.

Opposition politicians have now called for the prime minister to go, while police offiicals have held talks with the president.
