EU changes mind on bluefin tuna being over-fished

The main Mediterranean fishing nations appear to have won an early victory over the rest of Europe.

Led by France and Spain they have forced the European Union to reject measures to protect the endangered bluefin tuna from being over-fished in the Atlantic.

The EU Commissioner had wanted nations to agree to new quotas which are less than half those currently in place. But they'll now head into multi-national talks without a unified position .
