Amanda Knox starts Meredith Kercher murder appeal

Amanda Knox and her former boyfriend are starting an appeal in Italy against their convictions for the murder of British student Meredith Kercher.

Knox, 23, was jailed last year for 26 years for killing her Leeds University housemate in Perugia in 2007. Raffaele Sollecito was jailed for 25 years.

Knox's legal team say they will challenge the scientific evidence against her and call new witnesses.

The BBC's Duncan Kennedy reports.
