Jacques Chirac corruption trial to start in Paris

Former French president Jacques Chirac's corruption trial is to begin in Paris.

Mr Chirac is accused of paying friends and allies with public funds between 1977 and 1995.

The allegation is they were paid for jobs in the town hall that did not exist.

He has always denied any wrongdoing.
