Serb president on how Mladic previously avoided capture

The Serbian president, Boris Tadic, said investigations into the case of Ratko Mladic will focus on how he created a "protection system" to avoid capture for so long.

He told the BBC that the investigation would look at any help given to Mladic by what he termed "people in the state system".

Mr Tadic, whose government came to power in 2004, said that previous administrations had not made serious attempts to find Mladic.
