Norway gunman feels his actions were 'necessary'

Anders Behring Breivik, who admits carrying out the mass killings in Norway, knows that people think he is "a demon", according to his lawyer.

Geir Lippestad said that his client knows that he did "something dreadful", but justified the atrocities as "necessary" for preventing the "fall of Europe".

The far-right extremist is in jail awaiting trial for killing eight people with a bomb in Oslo and shooting dead 69 on Utoeya island.
