Election result a setback for Putin's presidential campaign

With most of the votes counted in Russia's parliamentary elections, the party founded by the Prime Minister, Vladimir Putin, has suffered a significant setback.

Vladimir Putin is facing a slump in popularity that he has not experienced since the Kursk submarine disaster of 2000.

Projections suggest the United Russia party will only just win enough seats to form a parliamentary majority.
