General strike in Spain as debt rises

A general strike is under way in Spain called by the unions, to oppose the Government's labour reforms.

Ministers are set to announce more cuts on Friday in an effort to reduce the budget deficit.

As the central Government tries to balance its books, it is also having to contend with the debt of Spain's regional governments.

The city of Jerez in Andalusia is one of the worst offenders. It has years of unpaid bills and as Tom Burridge reports, many of its workers have not been paid for several months.
