France: Hollande and Sarkozy mark VE Day

The socialist president-elect, Francois Hollande, and his defeated rival, Nicolas Sarkozy, have taken part together in a ceremony marking the anniversary of the end of WWII in Europe.

They laid wreaths at the tomb of the unknown soldier, beneath the Arc de Triomphe.

Mr Hollande, meanwhile, is continuing consultations to form a government.

Christian Fraser reports from Paris.
