Booming coal-fired Poland blocks EU emissions target

The European Union is eager to present a united front for negotiations on climate change with the UN in 2012.

But it has failed to gain agreement on long-term targets for cutting carbon emissions within its own borders.

The new levels have been blocked by just one of its 27 member states, Poland.
