Greece arrests journalist over 'Lagarde List' bank leak

A Greek journalist has been arrested after publishing a list of about 2,000 Greeks who hold accounts with the HSBC bank in Switzerland.

Kostas Vaxevanis has been charged with breach of privacy.

Mr Vaxevanis said the list he published was the same one that was given by the then French finance minister Christine Lagarde to her Greek counterpart.

Speaking shortly before he was detained by police, Mr Vaxevandis defended his actions, saying that he "did nothing more than what a journalist is obliged to do".
