Rescue dogs brought to France for avalanche training

Rescue dogs and their owners from around the world are attending a week-long training course in the French Alps in avalanche search techniques.

Trainers at the course in Les Deux Alpes say it only takes 20 minutes for a dog to search an area of 10,000 square meters. Whereas 20 people would need about two hours to cover the same space.

Every year dozens of people die in avalanches across the globe.
